Katie Holmes, wife of Tom Cruise, is heading back with a new comedy film on the big screen, “The Extra Man”. She is supposed to join Kevin Kline, in the lead role and Paul Dano and John C. Reilly. The movie is based on a novel written by Jonathan Ames and is directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, as reported on aceshowbiz.com.
The movie’s plot is about a playwright who has failed in his field and escorts rich widows on the Upper East Side. Meanwhile he meets an ambitious playwright and develops a mentor-student relationship with the man.
However, Katie Holmes has “Teaching Mrs. Tingle”, black comedy in 1998, “Phone Booth”, a thriller in 2003, “Thank You for Smoking” a satire drama in 2006 and “Mad Money”, a crime comedy in 2008, to add to the list of her films on big screen. She had earlier played the role of Joey Potter in the TV drama series, “Dawson’s Creek”.
